Online Banking Security
Online Banking is a secure, Internet-based service that gives you
convenient, 24-hour account access. MCSB takes information security very
seriously and is committed to protecting your personal information with
us.
User ID and Password
You will be forced to change your User ID and Password the first time
you log in to online banking. After that you control your password and
can change it at any time. Passwords are a unique combination of
characters created by you in order to gain access to Online Banking. To
change your password, select “Options” and then “Change Password.”
The safest passwords are those that combine numbers and letters
Do not use obvious passwords, such as your birth date or name
Never share you password with anyone
Change your password frequently
Firewalls and Routers
MCSB has a system of firewalls that form a barrier between the Internet
and MCSB’s internal systems. All incoming information is routed through
the firewall, which verifies the source and destination of each piece of
information. The firewall processes the information in a special manner
before delivering it to our internal computer system. This way, all
internal information is protected, keeping the structure of our computer
system a secret. Our firewall records all activity within MCSB’s Online
Banking, including sign-ons, sign-offs and access violations. This
allows for quick identification of any suspicious activity.
Encryption
When you bank online with us, your information is encrypted. Encryption
makes information unreadable to protect it from unauthorized viewing or
use, especially during transmission. For your security and ours, MCSB
employs a robust industry standard for all encryption.
Monitoring Systems
We use various monitoring systems to detect suspicious and fraudulent
activity. These systems are the “watchdogs” for unusual patterns of
activity, such as repeated incorrect password usage. MCSB will
automatically “lock out” the user and prevent the user from using Online
Banking after three unsuccessful attempts to login.
Automatic Time Out
You should always select “Exit” after using Online Banking.
In addition, know that Online Banking has an automatic log-off window
that will appear after 10 minutes of inactivity.
